Day 39 - July 23,2009
Day 39: Love endures
Love never fails.
—1 Corinthians 13:8
TODAY’S DARE
Spend time in personal prayer, then write a letter of commitment and resolve to your spouse. Include why you are committing to this marriage until death, and that you have purposed to love them no matter what. Leave it in a place that your mate will find it.
I will answer the questions in the book for this one - What were your hesitations you had writing this letter? My hesitation was, before I prayed, I did feel it. For my this would make me vulnerable to more rejection, something I needed remove to handle.
How do you expect your spouse to respond to it? I expect him not to react. I expect him to view my letter as words. I do not expect this letter to change anything.
How did God help you in writing it, and what did the process teach you about yourself? God helped me, He put me in a place where I could write the letter. I felt peace and a motivation I didn't have before. This process taught me how selfish my love was. Loving as God love, it at times seems impossible. How does God give, give and give. How does is God able to accept rejection and still say, I will never leave you nor will I forsake. I learned what little I knew about unconditional love. To love first, not expecting any love in return. Woooooo....
I chose the song, " I Desire More," by Crystal Aikin. This song reflex my heart to God. At first this was about me (being the victim), then it was me taking all as my fault, then me saying it was both of us and ending with me telling God, " I want more of you and less of me." One more day of this book...
God I thank you for your faithfulness.
