Day 36 - July 20, 2009
Day 36: Love is God’s Word
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
—Psalm 119:105
TODAY’S DARE
Commit to reading the Bible every day. Find a devotional book or other resource that will give you some guidance. If your spouse is open to it, see if they will commit to daily Bible reading with you. Begin submitting each area of your life to its guidance and start building on the rock.
I thought this was an amazing follow up to this weeks sermon at my church. Which was about the Sword of the Spirit. How God's Word helps us during spiritual warfare. They used Luke 4 - when Jesus was being tempted by satan.
Questions in the book for this chapter are:
What parts of your life are in the greatest need of God's counsel? Where do you feel the most susceptible to failure? What are you asking God to show you through His word?
The greatest need right now of course my marriage. Which through reading God's word, He has ministered to me about this area. My children are another major area. And fear is pretty big too. I feel the most susceptible to failure in my marriage when I feel there is any outside threat to my marriage(women). Instead of stopping when I see certain things to pray or read God's word and ask Him for discernment, I just react. I don't sit and try to hear from God. It's an area I fail in often. Many times I find I have overreacted. (This is an area I can tell I am 25, lol : D )As my grandmother said, "Angela, I've learned sometimes you have to keep your mouth shut. And just pray. God will take care of you." I have been asking God to show areas where I have been lacking, the wife-mother-women He wants me to be and His will for my marriage/life.
I thought I would end this post with a letter Steve wrote me the first month we were dating. There are so many wonderful letters, but this one I thought fit well. Enjoy!
