Day 21 - July 5, 2009
Day 21: Love is satisfied in God
The Lord will continually guide you, and satisfy your desire.
—Isaiah 58:11
TODAY’S DARE
Be intentional today about making a time to pray and read your Bible. Try reading a chapter out of Proverbs each day (there are thirty-one—a full month’s supply), or reading a chapter in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). As you do, immerse yourself in the love and promises God has for you. This will add to your growth as you walk with Him.
Today I read 1 Samuel 17 before church. It was the chapter for the morning sermon, one most know. The story of David and Goliath. The verses which stood out to me -
"... Goliath, the Philistine champion from Gath, stepped out from his lines and shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it. When the Israelites saw the man, they all ran from him in great fear." 1 Samuel 17:23-24
I thought...How often have I run from battles which seemed to great for me. How many times have I told myself, "I can't do this...this is too much." And resigned to just not fight.
"All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands." 1 Samuel 17:47
This verse, remembering the battle is God's. I thought of how my fears have prevented me from being confident and having faith God will fight my battles.
I know by spending time with God,+ reading the bible, will build me daily. I have also found the need for flash cards with scriptures to encourage me throughout the day. Reminders for when challenges come.
On the day of Gabriel's surgery, Day 4, I felt completely alone. When Gabe has surgeries I feel overwhelmed, then to add the happenings in my marriage, I was overwhelmed. I cried, I told God this was too much. The scripture, which I wrote a note card to read when ever I felt discouraged was Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
It is vital I do my devotions everyday!
